Entrance About Library

In the haze of a hot summer, you find a library.

This library wasn't there before, but then, the heat of the day is fogging your memory.

The door open and you're greeted by a cool blast of air.

The long, narrow room is filled with books. They line the rows of low shelves, displaying crisp and tattered spines. You can imagine the crisp whisper of the soft tan pages as you turn one to the next -- you can almost hear it....

Actually, you can hear it. It chatters, like many rows of teeth, shaking and dancing throughout the room.

The floor beneath you crunches under your feet as you approach a shelf -- semi-transparent shells litter the floor, gathering around holes in the hard dirt floor. There, guarding the books with blank red eyes, is a cicada. And it is screeching at you in welcome, with its kindred: "Shhhh-shh-shh-shh-shh..."

There's a table near the door, and on it, a note:

Welcome to the Cicada Library. Feel free to peruse the titles. I've left notes in some of them. Others are waiting to be read.

Stay for as long as you need.
